Ret. Admiral Prof. Dr. Nurhan KâhyaoÄŸlu had a 32-year career in the Turkish Navy. He served as as a navy officer in engineering duties of all levels onboard the naval ships. And as a senior naval architect and marine engineer he also has more than 40 years of progressively responsible naval and marine industry experience in naval seamanship, ship and yacht design and, shipyard work; research and development, strategic and operational management, technical management and planning activities, including teaching as a lecturer in the Turkish Naval Academy, in the Maritime Faculty of Istanbul Technical University and, in Pîrî Reis University (PRU).
He has a wide experience in the naval ship acquisition projects including of planning, executing, controlling, and managing numerous basic, contract and detail design, and system integration of ships, and conduct the most valuable shipbuilding projects as senior manager such as Ada Class MiLGEM (National Ship) Corvette project as well as associated technologies. His last two assignments in the navy were, as a Rear Admiral, commanding officer of Gölcük Naval Shipyard, and Ä°stanbul Naval Shipyard respectively. He got his PhD degree in Naval Architecture and received his Associate Professorship title in Hydromechanics. He also has performed a duty as a member of the board of HAVELSAN A.Åž. (Avionics Industries i.c).
After serving as the member of the University Senate, and as the Dean of Faculty of Engineering of the Pîrî Reis University (PRU), KâhyaoÄŸlu quit his career in PRU and also resigned from being the manager of PRU-Teknopark Commercial Enterprise in 2021. Nurhan KâhyaoÄŸlu, founded his own consulting company NKCONSULTUM in January 2022. In recent years; he provides consultancy services in ship and yacht building projects, surface warships and submarine design and construction projects; in ship design optimization, strategic and operational management in yacht and shipbuilding, mathematical modeling of ships and boats maneuvering simulation, shipyard organization and management, cognitive approach for continuous maritimization etc.
Prof. Dr. Nurhan KâhyaoÄŸlu has the ICF-ACSTH professional coaching certificate and he currently is the member of the Chamber of Turkish Naval Architects and Marine Engineers-GMO, and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers-SNAME.
